WHERE TO WATCH THE BRITISH GRAND PRIX

WHERE TO WATCH THE BRITISH GRAND PRIX

A view of the Silverstone grid.

A 90,000 sell-out crowd will flock to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix, all seeking a glimpse of their Formula One heroes.

Here we take a look at the best viewing spots at the track:

COPSE

As well as the hurly-burly of the first corner on lap one, Copse provides one of the most spectacular sights on the Formula One calendar, with the field blasting through the right-hander at high speed. Watch as they disappear into the distance, jinking left then right through Maggots.

MAGGOTS/BECKETTS/CHAPEL

David Coulthard hails this sweeping complex of corners as the best at any grand prix track, with the cars flat out, taking the left-right-left sequence at speeds between 130-170mph. As you watch them blast through, you are left wondering just how they hold onto the road.

HANGAR STRAIGHT

The fastest part of Silverstone. See the cars rocket past at nearly 200mph with fans lining the banking just a few yards away. With the roar of the engines still ringing in your ears, look down the hill for the right-hand bend of Stowe.

STOWE

A great viewing spot as you can see the cars to your right in the distance emerging through Maggots and then powering on up through Hangar Straight before approaching the Stowe right-hander, and then to your left as they head down through Vale before hitting the 170mph left-right corner of Club.

LUFFIELD

The complex which ends a lap of Silverstone may be the slowest part of the track but it is where most of the action takes place. Four relatively low-speed corners give drivers a chance to choose different lines and attempt an overtaking move.
