MASSA: KIMI STILL A THREAT

MASSA: KIMI STILL A THREAT

Massa - backs his team-mate.

Felipe Massa has denied claims that Kimi Raikkonen is out of the title race, saying his team-mate only needs a few good races to be back in the hunt.

With six races remaining Massa has taken over as Ferrari's lead driver in the standings thanks to his victory in Sunday's Valencia GP which moved him to within six points of Championship leader Lewis Hamilton.

Raikkonen meanwhile dropped to third in the race, 13 points off the pace after his DNF on Sunday.

Massa's run of form, which would have also included a win in Hungary had it not been for an engine failure three laps from the end, has led to some questioning whether Ferrari will back him solely for the title.

The Brazilian, however, doesn't believe it will happen any time soon as he concedes that all Raikkonen needs it two or three good results and he's back in the race.

"The distance between us and McLaren will be small right down to the wire," he told AFP.

"Right now you could say that the title is between Hamilton and me but Raikkonen only needs two or three good races to get back in the battle."
