Robert Kubica is intent on keeping Kimi Raikkonen at bay in the season-ending Brazilian GP and holding onto third place in the standings.
Kubica has had an impressive season with BMW, challenging for the drivers' title right up until the penultimate race in China.
In Shanghai, though, he dropped 19 points behind Championship leader Lewis Hamilton to fall out of the running.
However, Kubica is now hoping to finish third in the standings, although in order to do that he will need to keep Raikkonen behind him as the Finn is only six points adrift.
"It would have been excellent for myself to finish in the top three at the end of the season," Kubica said.
"You never know whether you'll get another chance over the next five years or so to lead the world championship after seven races.
"Our consistency and reliability is what kept us in the battle for the Championship."
"I was always quick, and had very few errors. Of course, I am very ambitious and always give one hundred percent, but you still always have the feeling that we could have done better.
"However, we should be happy with what we have achieved."
