FIA Deputy President for Sport Marco Piccinini is set to step down from his position, one year before the end of his term, motorsport's governing body announced on Tuesday.
According to a statement from the FIA, Piccinini has opted to leave his position to "focus on his other professional commitments."
His resignation will take effect from the next FIA General Assembly on 7 November 2008, when his successor will be elected.
